Wales has some of the finest medieval castles you will ever see, some of its most notable having been built by King Edward I. Caernarvon Castle is a fine example of his legacy and is probably one of the most impressive medieval castles in Britain. A castle ‘fit for a prince’ is how many describe Caernarvon Castle as it was the place of HRH The Prince of Wales’ investiture.

The four castles of Caernarfon, Beaumaris, Conwy and Harlech together make up the Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd World Heritage Site. These are considered to be the “finest examples of late 13th century and early 14th century military architectural castles in Europe.
