St. Bartholomew The Great Church - A Medieval Church

St Bartholomew the Great is one of the oldest places of worship in London. It was established by a courtier of King Henry I in 1123 AD; the courtier's name was Rahere who, it is believed, renounced his way of life and made a pilgrimage to Rome following the tragedy that befell the King. That tragedy was the death of the king’s wife and then the drowning of their heir Prince William, his brother, half-brother and sister.

On a more trivial note, movie fans may have seen St. Bartholemew The Great Church on film without even realising it for it was featured in "Three Weddings and a Funeral".
