Brougham Castle, Penrith UK - England

Castle Introduction
Built on the site of an original Roman fort, Brougham Castle was built as a Norman fortress by the Vieuxpont family and then passed into the Clifford family. It was restored in the 17th century by Lady Anne Clifford who also died there.

The Norman keep is the oldest part of the castle that survives today - dating back to around 1175.
