Bamburgh Castle, Bamburgh UK - England

Castle Introduction
The site of Bamburgh Castle is believed to have been occupied as a settlement since prehistoric times with the first written reference to an actual castle on the site being in AD 547. The Normans built the essence of the castle we see today. It was besieged, though not successfully, in 1095, was sometimes targeted for raids from over the border in Scotland and in 1464 was the first castle in England to be defeated by artillery during the Wars of the Roses.
